MAKING YOUR WEDDING DAY A STORY // WEDDING WEDNESDAY // Jordan Edens Photography
I have a little secret on how to get the BEST possible wedding photos. And not just photos either, but photos that share the story of your wedding day!
The secret, plan ahead! And on your wedding day
sit back and enjoy the ride!
PLAN AHEAD, but not too much! This isn’t meant to pressure you to plan more, but to get the wheels rolling and ensure that the moments you find the most value in are planned well. I am not a professional wedding planner, but here are a few planning tips from the photographer’s side of a wedding
Planning note number one: Have you been on Pinterest or Instagram lately? I have, and every single time I jump on sites like this I am BLOWN away. As you are perusing these sites, keep in mind that each jaw dropper wedding detail was expertly planned. Use these weddings as inspiration to help with your planning.
Planning note number two: Your photographer will thank you for having beautiful details that are fun and unique to the two of you as a couple. And you better believe that as soon as you mention those details, your photographer has already started formulating ideas for how best to photograph them. No need to stockpile your wedding photo inspiration board with detail photos, just make sure that you bring all of the pretty on your wedding day and your photographer will do the rest.
Planning note number three: just because you saw it on the internet doesn’t mean it’s realistic. Not all photos can be re-created or are possible in different locations or lighting situations. I think I speak for many photographers when I say, we love it when you lean in and trust our expertise for how to get the shot. An inspiration board is nice to see trends and styles that jump out to you, but trust the amazing vendors that you have chosen to invest with!
Once you have your schedule ready to go, sit back and let the moments happen! I love to tell my brides to make space to experience their wedding day!
Ok, so where does this whole ‘wedding story’ that you mentioned come in? Hey, great question, I am so glad you asked! As a photographer, I operate each wedding day as its very own story. Another reason why I encourage my couples to make space to experience their wedding day is because I want their day to unravel naturally. Skip the forced moments, and enjoy the fruits of your labor. As your photographer, I am happy to connect the dots for you and curate moments within your wedding collection that show and tell and evoke all that you felt on that amazing day.
If you are getting married and you want to make sure that you have the absolute best wedding photos, kick butt with your planning and then sit back and enjoy the entire day!
